Lesson 1 : Atlantis


What do we need for this lesson :

- PSP X2
- The rar file with the equipment :

- Good courage ;0)
- Something to eat and drink ;0)

Do you have all the supplies ?
The filter is installed ?
Then we can start now. ;-)

1. Open the image Atlantis_lg and resize it to 600 px width, all layers checked.

2. Take 2 colors from this picture als your fore- and background, I've taken these :
Foreground color = is the light color : #D1F6FE Light color
Background color = is the dark color : #2D5A57 Dark color

3. Minimize the picture by clicking on the minus, we will use it again later.

4. Open a new image of 600 x 400 px, transparent and fill it with your dark color.

5. Layers - New raster layer and fill it with your light color.

6. Layers - New mask layer - from image :

7. Find the picture in your menu : Atlantis_lg - source luminance checked as in the example
and click OK :

8. Layers - Merge - Merge Group.
Put your coverage of this layer to 60% in your layer pallet.
Now you have made a mask out of a picture ;0)

9. Open the tube : Atlantis Dolphin-Cgsfdesigns-17-11-2008 - Copy it and paste as new layer
in your design.

10. Reduce the tube by 80%, all layers NOT checked. Move it to the left, such as my example,
so it looks like it is a 3D image.

11. Duplicate the tube layer in your layer pallet. Go to your layer pallet and make sure that
the bottom layer is the active one - Effects - Distortion Effects - Wind with the following settings :

12. Effects - FM Tile Tools - Blend Emboss with the default settings :

13. Apply once more the effect Blend Emboss with the same settings as before.

14. Go to the top layer in your layer pallet and make it the active one by clicking on it.
Apply again the effect Blend Emboss with the same settings.
If your image doesn't get better, than you don't have to use the Blend Emboss effect again ;0)

15. Set the opacity of this layer to 60% in your layer pallet.

16. Open de tube : Atlantis-Dame-Cgsfdesigns-17-11-2008 - Copy this and place it as a new layer
on to your design.

17. Change the size by 60%, All layers NOT checked.

18. Put the lady in the lower right corner and sharpen it 1 time (Adjust - Sharpness - Sharpen)

19. Duplicate the tube layer in your layer pallet and active the bottom layer tube.

20. Adjust - Blur - Gaussian Blur and set the range at 20 :

21. Layers - Merge - Merge all layers.

22. Open the image again : Atlantis_lg. We are going to select a little piece to use as a pattern.
Activate your selection tool - put setting on square, feather and tolerance : 0
and select a piece such as the example :

23. Click on the gray bar of your design and choose for copying.
Go back to your PSP and paste as new image - minimize the pattern.

24. Find your pattern now in your color palette in the Pattern tab and use the following settings :

25. Image - Add borders : 1 px with your light color;
4 px with your dark color;
1 px with your light color;
25 px with your dark color.

26. Select the last border (25 px) with your magic wand, use the following settings to select :

Add (shift) - RGB value - tolerance and feather : 0 - outside

27. Fill the border with the pattern by using your tesselation.

28. Adjust - Blur - Gaussian Blur, take the same settings as before.

29. Selections - Invert.

30. Effects - 3D Effects - Drop Shadow with these settings :

31. Again use the Drop Shadow but with horizontal en vertical to -1.

32. Selections - Invert.
Effects - 3D Effects - Inner Bevel with the following settings :

33. Selecties - Select None.

34. Reduce your image to 600 px width and do not forget do add your watermark.

35. Now, make a matching background to send in your lesson ;0)
